Teapot workshop
Teapot workshop
Over 4 Saturday afternoons learn how to hand-build a teapot. Using a variety of hand-building techniques, learn how to construct the belly of a teapot, make a spout, lid and ‘pull’ or coil a handle. Each teapot will be made to reflect your own individual taste and design and will be fully functional upon completion.
Starting on Saturday, May 9th from 1 - 4 pm, you will be designing your own teapot, learning about proportion and how to create a functional form. In this session you will construct the belly of your teapot using flattened coils.
Returning on Saturday, May 16 from 1 - 4pm, you will learn how to construct a lid, cut out a tea leaf filter, make and join a spout and pull or coil a handle and attach it to your teapot.
On Saturday, May 23rd from 1-3pm, you will spend the session decorating and refining your teapot.
There will then be a 3 week break to enable your teapot to dry and then be bisque fired ready for glazing on Saturday, June 13, 1-3pm.
All materials and 2 firings included.
